Grimm's Fairy Tales (Collector's Edition Book)

The Brothers Grimm rediscovered a host of fairy tales, telling of princes and princesses in their castles, witches in their towers and forests, of giants and dwarfs, of fabulous animals and dark deeds.

Grimm’s Fairy Tales, collected by Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm in the early 19th century, is a seminal anthology of folk stories that have become a cornerstone of fairy tale tradition. This selection of their folk tales was made and translated by Lucy Crane, and includes firm favourites such as Rapunzel, The Goose Girl, Sleeping Beauty, Hansel and Greteland Snow Whit, along with many lesser-known but equally enchanting stories.. It is illustrated throughout by Walter Crane’s charming line drawings.

These tales, rooted in European folklore, feature magical creatures, heroic quests, and moral challenges, blending dark, cautionary themes with moments of wonder and triumph.

Key lessons in Grimm’s Fairy Tales include the importance of courage, cleverness, and kindness. Through challenges faced by characters, such as overcoming greed or deceit, the stories often emphasize justice and the consequences of one’s actions. While many tales have been softened in modern adaptations, the original versions offer deeper insights into human nature and societal values, making them timeless narratives for reflection and enjoyment. Some tales contain darker themes that require a more mature understanding, recommended reading age is 10 and up.
